GROUPE PSA CELEBRATES MULTIPLE WINS AT ‘INSPIRING AUTOMOTIVE WOMEN AWARDS 2020’

Four UK Groupe PSA employees have been recognised at the ‘Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2020’ digital event, organised by the Automotive 30% Club. Shane Coomber, Commercial Director at Free2Move Lease, Olivett Ihama, Legal Counsel, Groupe PSA UK, and Diane Miller, General Assembly Manager, Ellesmere Port were in the list of 31 winners and Groupe PSA UK Managing Director, Alison Jones, was awarded the ‘Special Recognition – Trailblazer of the Year 2020’ award.

The ‘Inspiring Automotive Women Awards 2020’ recognises and celebrates women working in the automotive industry, with all winners nominated by their colleagues. Winners are selected by an independent judging panel made up of eight judges. The Automotive 30% Club is a voluntary network of MDs and CEOs from UK-based automotive manufacturing, retailing and supplier companies. It aims to achieve a better gender balance within the automotive industry, with the target of filling at least 30% of key leadership positions in the member organisations with women by 2030.

Alison Jones was recognised for her performance this year in overseeing one of the UK’s largest car companies during such a difficult trading year. Her achievements are leading the way for other women in the sector.

Alison Jones, Managing Director, Groupe PSA UK said: "I am honoured to receive a special recognition award from a judging panel that acknowledges real, hardworking, strong women in the automotive industry. I am also particularly delighted that the awards have also distinguished colleagues in different roles to those that we have seen before, such as Olivett, Diane, and Shane which recognises diversity of roles as well as colleagues skill sets and capability in our industry’’

Julia Muir, Founder of the Automotive 30% Club, said: “Since Alison joined Groupe PSA in April 2019, she has overseen a transformation in both performance and culture and has protected and enhanced profitability despite the pandemic via decisive cost controls and a revenue maximisation strategy. She has engaged all employees, launching regular broadcasts to all staff, sharing key details of strategy, tactics and results, encouraged everyone to ask questions and has driven inclusivity by questioning the status quo and challenging historic working practices.”

Shane Coomber, Commercial Director of Free2Move Lease was recognised for her complete overhaul of the strategy and tactics of the Sales & Marketing departments of Free2Move Lease.

Since 2019, she has successfully increased Free2Move Lease’s market share by building strong relationships with manufacturers, and through building credibility and empathy has driven the marketing department to review and re-write the overall strategy, improving targeting and efficiency. Her active role in ‘Women Engaged for PSA’, which is a network of women who have formed to advance the cause of gender balance, overcome friction and unconscious bias, was also recognised.

Olivett Ihama, Legal Counsel, Groupe PSA UK, was recognised for her leading role in evaluating and promoting inclusivity and diversity within Groupe PSA. She has been a vital part of the transformation of Groupe PSA’s legal department in the UK and a positive conscience for the wider business.

Diane Miller, General Assembly Manager at Ellesmere Port was recognised as a winner for her continued work in transforming the Paint Unit at the Ellesmere Port plant in terms of health and safety, quality, throughput, and cost over the past four years. Diane Miller’s position as the lead woman in the plant’s Women in Industry Forum, which involves her participating in university and school open days, was also praised.
