WORLD PREMIERE: SPACETOURER THE CITROËNIST CONCEPT

- In a world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Citroën presents SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept, a modern van full of character, inspired by the desire for freedom and sharing. It offers a real mobile living and work space to experience boundless adventure while staying connected. - Its name refers to fans’ commitment to the Brand, whose core identity it embodies: a striking outline full of character and the promise of journeys in complete comfort. - Greater freedom of movement since the concept is accompanied by an exclusive bicycle model – “Rider The Citroënist by Martone” – developed in partnership with Martone and incorporating the concept's stylistic codes. This bicycle will be available to buy online at www.lifestyle.citroen.com along with “The Citroënist” lifestyle products. - Based on a SpaceTourer, this completely new camper van concept offers a special internal configuration developed by Pössl (which markets the Campster). It allows two people to sleep on board, stow a bike and use a connected on-board office. - SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept testifies to Citroën's dynamic approach to the motorhome market, in which the brand grew by 71% in Europe in 2018, thereby reinforcing its position in second place.

01 - A RAPIDLY EXPANDING BRAND IN THE MOTORHOME MARKET

Having consolidated its second place position in the European motorhomes market in 2018, the Citroën Brand has recorded the biggest growth of any car manufacturer for the last four consecutive years. Citroën now has over 10% market share in Europe in this segment, with registrations up more than 71%. SpaceTourer – the ideal base for any number of conversions – has contributed significantly to this growth. The SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept is faithful to the 100-year history of a popular Brand that has always worked to promote mobility and escape for as many people as possible. It symbolises Citroën’s dynamic approach in the motorhomes market.

02 – EXTENDED MOBILITY FOR A MODERN VAN OFFERING A LIVING AND WORK SPACE

Distilling the Brand’s core identity with its bold design and promise of comfort, the name “The Citroënist” is an allusion to the community of fans. Citroën is the most collected Brand in the world. A name perfectly suited to this modern van, which enables escape in complete comfort in an object with a unique character. It combines unlimited escape with a mobile living and work space to remain constantly connected.

A comfortable, modern and boundless means of escape

Compact externally (length: 4.95m, width: 1.92m, height: 1.99m), SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept is easy to handle and can negotiate any roads. It switches effortlessly from everyday life to leisure pursuits. For greater freedom of movement, it has two hands-free electric sliding side doors and an opening rear window, while its reduced height ensures it can access any car park. Aimed at all those in search of escape and seeking modern and connected tools, this SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept motorhome derivative also offers a driving space incorporating the qualities of the production model: its comfort in line with the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, its generous on-board space, as well as the latest driving aids and connectivity technologies, including colour head-up display, Active Safety Brake, Citroën Connect Nav navigation, Mirror Screen, etc.

During excursions in the city or the countryside, the robust and practical SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept offers a driving experience in the very best conditions of comfort and safety! It is also capable of more intensive use, relying on its elevated ground clearance and all-wheel drive, created by partner Automobiles Dangel. For even greater freedom, this all-wheel-drive transmission improves safety and makes it possible to get off the beaten track, regardless of the season or conditions, while maintaining the comfort, road-handling and performance of the SpaceTourer. Meanwhile, its BlueHDi 150 S&S BVM6 engine provides it with power and versatility at all times.

A mobile living and work space

Mobile and sociable, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept is fully equipped to live everyday life in complete freedom, while still remaining connected. On the basis of the conversion made by Pössl – the leading European converter of vans into camper vans – SpaceTourer has been converted into a true motorhome able to take up to four people on the adventure. Their layout has been designed for more space and comfort, with two seats in the front and two in the back, installed in rows 2 and 3 on the right-hand side.

Ready to take on any trip, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept also benefits from numerous functional features to maximise space on board, thereby becoming a multifunction van, in which to live and work in complete comfort and serenity.

-Following its Campster by Pössl conversion, it is instantly recognisable by its pop-up roof. Produced in Grey textile, it incorporates a large mosquito net, a perforated canvas and a concealed berth. In “night” configuration, two people can sleep in the dedicated berth above the cabin. For greater user comfort in “daytime” mode, the pop-up roof can lift to provide impressive ceiling height for standing up.

-To work, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept manages to incorporate a practical and modular multimedia unit, providing a smooth work surface and a retractable TV screen. In addition, connectivity features such as Click&Share are available to share content. A design offering occupants the ability to read road maps, prepare for journeys or watch videos/photos in absolute comfort. With its swivelling front seats, a sociable space can be created around the table and screen, just like a real living room.

-Functional and designed down to the minutest detail, the panels of its interior fittings, covered in a Grey Wengé material, contain many other easy-to-use storage spaces to ensure comfortable living. Enclosed and distributed around the seating, sleeping and boot areas, they allow storage of everyday objects away from prying eyes.

03 - DESIGN: A STRONG CHARACTER MARKED BY THE ELEGANCE OF BLACK AND WHITE

To reinforce the identity of this functionally designed concept, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept adopts an elegant palette of Black and White to harmonise the exterior and interior.

The Colours and Trims designers have developed a two-tone exterior design. Set off by a special pattern, tinted side windows in the upper section are combined with a luminous White body tint for the lower section. In profile, a Red strip emphasises the vehicle's horizontal body line. SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept also has a large “The Citroënist Est.1919” sticker on its front door and a pennant on the driver side featuring a double flag with “The C” logo and double chevrons. To reinforce its spirit of adventure, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept is equipped with 17-inch five-spoke aluminium alloy wheels and stylised tyres with White stripes around their flanks and set off with a “Martone” Red.

Citroën provides the same consistency of style on board. The seats contribute to the transversal theme, with a horizontal two-tone treatment emphasising the impression of space on board. The main seating section is covered with an elegant light Grey quilted effect fabric for even greater comfort. The Red top-stitching on the seat and the Red band on the backrest echo the strip setting off the external body line. The driving position has also been specially designed. The decoration of the dashboard and door panels reinforces the identity of this concept. Red straps, in reference to travel, and a Grey soft-touch covering adorn the passenger-side dashboard. On the driver side, an insert in the steering wheel refers to the name of the concept, “The Citroënist”.

04- MARTONE: AN UNEXPECTED MEETING ON THE THEME OF DESIGN AND MOBILITY

Extended mobility with an exclusive bicycle: “Rider The Citroënist by Martone”

Designed and developed with boundless mobility in mind, for long excursions as well as in city centres, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept goes even further to make motorists’ lives easier. An iconic vehicle designed and developed around leisure and mobility, it is accompanied by a very on-trend bicycle model, combining functionality and comfort and developed using the expertise of a pioneering partner: Martone.

It was a natural choice for the two brands – each known for their passion for design and mobility – to collaborate on SpaceTourer. Offering ease of handling, road performance and handy technologies, SpaceTourer benefits from Citroën’s know-how in terms of design, on-board space and comfort. The Martone Brand meanwhile contributes all its expertise by adding a very exclusive bicycle: “Rider The Citroënist by Martone”.

This bicycle echoes the theme of the concept with its bold design. Easily recognisable for its Red chain, it was born from the collaboration with the company associated with the worlds of fashion and design. It has been designed as a comfortable and elegant means of sustainable mobility, adopting the colour codes of the concept: White (for the frame, saddle and handlebars) and Black (for the wheels). Attractive and practical like the Citroën SpaceTourer, this bicycle is the perfect addition for motorists looking to benefit from freedom of mobility and the pleasure of the road. To transport the two models presented with the concept, SpaceTourer The Citroënist Concept also offers a double storage rail on the floor between the multimedia unit and the rear seats.
