DS AT THE PARIS E-PRIX: ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGIES FROM RACETRACK TO ROAD

DS seeks a world front-line position in electrified cars. Starting with DS 7 CROSSBACK, it will be releasing a new model every year, all with an electrified versions (hybrid or all-electric). DS Automobiles is running in Formula E, a valuable ground for experimentation. As the Paris E-Prix looms the question naturally arises as regards technologies to be carried over to production models. Three projects here are well under way.

In the words of Eric Apode, DS Product and Development chief, “DS is entering the electrified vehicles scene. By 2025, more than a third of all DS vehicles sold will be hybrid or all-electric. The performance will be provided by the hybrid. The first in the series is DS 7 CROSSBACK E-Tense, the DS vision of hybrid power, with 300 bhp and a 60-km electric range”.

As Xavier Mestelan Pinon, DS Performance director, explains, “A competition series involving all-electric racers obviously makes an ideal testing ground for our forthcoming technologies. With each successive race and trial session, we’re pushing back the limits. We’re taking part in the development of new components. And we’re developing an ever-fuller understanding of the drivechain in general and of energy management in particular.”
