In Bahrain, scene of the final round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship, PEUGEOT produced a video featuring Team Peugeot TotalEnergies driver Gustavo Menezes, using a stunt to present its new slogan, ‘Allure Born to Race’. High above Bahrain International Circuit, the American parachuted out of a Bahrain Ministry of Interior Police Aviation helicopter before landing on the track and driving away in PEUGEOT’s 9X8 Hypercar.

The 8 Hours of Bahrain was the last race of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ three-round 2022 programme ahead of its full assault on the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2023. Saturday’s race saw the #94 Peugeot 9X8 secure fourth place, while the #93 sister car posted the fastest race lap after earning a front-row start in qualifying! These encouraging results enabled the team to continue its apprenticeship of the series and collect valuable information that the drivers and technical squad plan to put to good use as they prepare for their next tests, beginning with Sunday’s FIA WEC Rookie Test. This annual session will see youngsters Maximilian Günther, Malthe Jakobsen and Yann Ehrlacher team up with regular drivers Mikkel Jensen and Nico Müller.

In addition to being the sixth and final round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship, the 8 Hours of Bahrain in Sakhir is Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ third official outing as its apprenticeship of the series continues. After topping free practice on Thursday, the #93 Peugeot 9X8 secured a front-row start in qualifying in the hands of Paul Di Resta, while Gustavo Menezes put the #94 sister car on the grid’s second row for Saturday’s race which kicks off at 2pm local time. The official Peugeot Sport YouTube channel will broadcast live coverage of the clash from onboard cameras fitted to the two 9X8s.

After Monza (Italy) in July and Fuji (Japan) in September, a mid-November trip to Sakhir in Bahrain is next on the agenda for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies. The race will be the French outfit’s third as it prepares for a full assault on the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023 – with a particular focus on the Le Mans 24 Hours on June 10-11. The objective for Saturday, November 12 is clear: a podium finish to conclude the 2022 FIA WEC.

Team Peugeot TotalEnergies has invited four drivers to try its PEUGEOT 9X8 during the FIA World Endurance Championship Rookie Test at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on November 13, the day after the series’ 8 Hours of Bahrain season finale. The line-up is composed of a blend of youth and experience, with Germany’s Maximilian Günther (25 years old), Dane Malthe Jakobsen (19), Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher (26) and Stoffel Vandoorne from Belgium (30) all set to get behind the wheel of the brand’s pioneering hybrid Hypercar.

Nico Müller has been recruited by Team Peugeot TotalEnergies to work on the PEUGEOT 9X8’s test and development programme for the remainder of the year, before contesting the entire FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in 2023, including next June’s centenary edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is continuing its journey in the FIA World Endurance Championship during this weekend’s fifth round of the 2022 series at Fuji, Japan (September 10-11). In only their second competitive appearance, the two PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercars enjoyed a positive and productive run through free practice and qualifying, with Jean-Éric Vergne and Loïc Duval respectively securing fourth and fifth positions on the grid for tomorrow’s six-hour race for the #93 and #94 cars.

Team PEUGEOT TotalEnergies made its maiden appearance in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) at today’s 6 Hours of Monza. The trip to Italy enabled it to harvest a significant amount of information as the team got to see how the PEUGEOT 9X8 performed in traffic and the afternoon’s extreme conditions. The steep learning curve will now continue with further private testing ahead of the next FIA WEC round, in Fuji, Japan, in September.

On July 10, 2022, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ two PEUGEOT 9X8 Le Mans Hypercar prototypes will make their official racing debut at Monza, Italy, in the fourth round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC). Building upon the success of its previous programmes with the 905 (1990>1993, powered by a V10 petrol engine) and 908 (2007>2011, powered by an HDI FAP diesel V12), PEUGEOT is making its grand return to endurance racing with a hybrid-powered car that embodies its electrification strategy. Team PEUGEOT TotalEnergies’ PEUGEOT 9X8 Hybrid Hypercar will make its official racing debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) this summer, with two cars sporting race numbers 93 and 94. The end of winter and this spring have been dedicated to development work, with the team, drivers and car conducting simulations and tests ahead of the 9X8’s final homologation by the FIA, which will freeze its technical characteristics until 2025.
