“500 Iride”: the dawn of micro-mobility by Mopar®

• The name 500 Iride (Iris in English) and the circular lights – located under the handlebars – are inspired by the iconic round headlights of the Fiat 500, but also by the rainbow as the expression in colors of nature’s beauty.
• Range of up to 30 km, top speed of 25 km/h, 250W motor and 10” tires.
• At launch, three colors are available: Celestial Blue and Cloud Gray – to celebrate the environment, and red to pay tribute to a new brand, the refreshed 500 Family, based on the collaboration between Fiat and (RED) to spread the shared message of care for the environment, for the planet and for its people.
• Specific bag to fit in the car and 12V charger to fill up on power straight from the trunk.
• Dedicated user-friendly app, providing real-time tips on the scooter and the option to share it with friends and family, quickly and easily.

This mission – made loud and clear – was the Mopar and Fiat teams’ starting point to create the “500 Iride”, consolidating the close collaboration that has long linked them, producing a new electric scooter destined to change zero-emissions urban micro-mobility.

Designed by the Fiat Centro Stile, in collaboration with Compagnia Ducale, the exclusive “500 Iride” is a product with an unmistakable Italian design that drew its inspiration from the New 500, Fiat’s first 100% electric car, sharing its desire to ensure a better future for the next generations. Dedicated to the New 500 but intended for the entire 500 family, except for the specific charging solution in the trunk, the new Mopar® electric scooter gets you moving through the streets of city centers in a distinctive way, becoming the ideal ‘accelerator’ of the last mile.

“Since the initial design of the New 500, the Mopar® team has worked together with colleagues in engineering, style and product with the aim of offering maximum customization via a wide-ranging collection of Authentic Accessories by Mopar®, consistent with the spirit of the model,” stated Francesco Abbruzzesi, head of Mopar Enlarged Europe. “Today, we take a step forward by unveiling the “500 Iride”, to begin a new era in the field of urban micro-mobility, in the name of the Fiat icon. To produce it, we have made use of the know-how of Compagnia Ducale, one of our historical licensee partners, with whom we have already developed customized products with the stylistic features of the Fiat, Lancia, Abarth and Alfa Romeo brands”.

The “500 Iride” will be available from all Fiat dealerships and from the Mopar Store, even for customers without a Fiat car, and is offered at the introductory price of €699, including 2 years’ warranty, direct assistance via the app, as well as a dedicated call center, website and technical assistance network.

500 Iride: the meeting point of Design and Nature 

The 500 Iride (Iris in English) name is inspired by the iconic round headlights of the 500, which have marked it out for 64 years, giving it its renowned, captivating and fun look. The same style – famous all over the world – can be found in the circular direction indicators, located under the handlebars, making the “500 Iride” unique in the electric scooter landscape. But the name “Iride” is also reminiscent of the rainbow as an expression of beauty in nature. Unsurprisingly, the first two colors available are Celestial Blue and Cloud Gray: created exclusively for the New 500, they recall the sky and clouds full of rain respectively.
Also available soon, a red livery to pay tribute to the new (500) RED Family, based on the collaboration between Fiat and (RED) to spread the shared message of care for the environment, for the planet and for its people.
Exactly this version – (500 Iride)^RED – was unveiled a few days ago at “ Planting the seeds of our future", the extraordinary event held on the roof of the Lingotto complex in Turin, to inaugurate Casa 500 and La Pista 500, Fiat's ‘green’ manifesto, together with the launch of the New (500)^RED (further information is available here).
Like when buying the car, part of the proceeds from the RED-branded eScooter will be donated to the RED association. 
Finally, the logo takes up the silhouette of an electric scooter and is embellished with the Light Blue color, like the New 500's, revealing its electric and innovative soul at the service of sustainability and respect for the environment.

Technical specifications and safety at the highest level

Equipped with a 250W motor, the “500 Iride” can be used as a real means of transport to travel independently for up to 30 kilometers, with a top speed subject to local regulations, but of up to 25 km/h. It can be fully charged in 4.5 hours. Its wide footboard, 10” air chamber tires, rear shock absorber and built-in display, along with telescopic handlebars for better, customized handling, offer a driving experience with the utmost comfort. Its weight of only 15 kg and the easy-folding closing system make it practical to carry by hand or in the trunk of your car.
A front light with long-distance visibility and a rear light that flashes when braking contribute to maximum safety. When running on pedestrianized streets “pedestrian mode” can be activated – via the app or directly from the display – to limit the speed to 6 km/h. Finally, on demand, the Safety Pack is available, including a helmet, high-visibility vest and locking system for parking.

Specific carry case and 12V charger to fill up on peace on mind

For the “500 Iride”, a dedicated carry case has been created, to transport it conveniently by car. Actually, it can be placed in the trunk of the New 500, made possible by the Velcro base and the straps that attach to the Isofix system on the rear seats, thus ensuring safe, clean and noise-free transport. On demand, a 12V charger is also available – sold separately or together with the carry case, to be placed in the rear compartment. Customers can then fully charge the electric scooter from the New 500, using less than 1% of its battery capacity to do soNot to mention the fact that the “500 Iride” can also be powered with a charging cable to connect to the mains at home (included as standard).

Everything under control with the dedicated app

Available on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store, the dedicated app offers full control of the “500 Iride” from your smartphone. Specifically, you can check the battery status, range, actual speed, total distance traveled and time taken, and the CO₂ emissions offset. Cruise Control can also be set directly from the app, as can one of the four driving modes: “Normal” for balanced everyday use; “Sherpa” to minimize energy consumption; “Sport” for those who prefer a livelier drive; and “pedestrian mode” for use in pedestrian areas. Finally, the app (which acts as an electronic key to start the scooter in electric mode) offers multi-user management to share the “500 Iride” with family or friends, up to a maximum of four people. This feature means that the owner is the only person who can enable other users to use 500 Iridefrom their personal account.
