MAISON FABRE AT DS WORLD PARIS: SOPHISTICATION AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Between 22 September 2015 and 4 January, master glove maker Maison Fabre will be present in DS WORLD PARIS. It will be displaying several of its most iconic models alongside photos and items from the workshop retracing the prestigious history of the company and its craftspeople. To coincide with this event, Maison Fabre has joined forces with the DS Styling Centre to design two models of DS driving gloves, for men and women. Produced in fifty examples, the gloves will be available only at DS WORLD PARIS. See this event at 33 rue François 1e à Paris.

Following the last days of the photo exhibition on Yves Saint Laurent, DS WORLD PARIS is pleased to announce the next residence. From 22 September next, the spotlight will be on Maison Fabre.

"The next residence will showcase the leather-working skills, excellence and avant-garde approach that have made the name of Maison Fabre over the past 90 years. This residence is a close fit with the values and DNA of the DS brand. The focus is on French-style expertise, elegance and refinement. Connoisseurs of beautiful objects will even be able to buy DS driving gloves," says Julien Faux, Director of DS WORLD PARIS.

DS & MAISON FABRE: FRENCH-STYLE EXPERTISE

By paying tribute to the craftworkers behind Fabre gloves, the exhibition at DS WORLD PARIS will turn the spotlight on leather-working, an area of expertise dear to DS. The brand's organisation includes a team of upholsterers whose skills are behind the ‘watchstrap' seat finish exclusive to DS models.

The exhibition will retrace the history and expertise of Maison Fabre, a master glove maker founded in 1924 in the Aveyron region of south-west France. Workshop items, period photographs and sewing machines will tell the story of this family-run company, giving visitors an insight into the history of the workshop in Millau and the expertise of the master glove makers, cutters, embroiderers and sewers. A number of iconic objects will be on show, such as the glove used in the 1946 film Beauty and the Beast, the glove worn by painter and sculptor Pierre Soulages, and a scented glove worn by Marie-Antoinette The exhibition will also include artistic photos illustrating the history of the company and its partnerships with the leading names in haute-couture. Crowning the whole, gloves from the autumn 2015 Fabre collection will also be unveiled on the first floor of DS WORLD PARIS and visitors will be able to order made-to-measure gloves.

DS & MAISON FABRE: GLOVES SYMBOLISING THE FRENCH ART OF LIVING

The first floor of DS WORLD PARIS will be turned into a pop-up boutique selling an exclusive collection of DS driving gloves created by Maison Fabre in cooperation with the DS Styling Office. Made of lambskin, the gloves are produced in Millau using local skins and tanners. Each model features special inserts for a firm grip of the steering wheel and an elegant driving style. The gloves subtly combine the brand cues of the DS with the inimitable stamp of Maison Fabre. Only fifty pairs are available sold to 180 euros for woman and 200 euros for man.
