DIRIYAH E-PRIX: DS AUTOMOBILES LOOKING TO BUILD ON POSITIVE START TO FORMULA E SEASON 9!

Round two of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Season 9 is a double header taking place this weekend in Diriyah (Saudi Arabia) DS Automobiles and its partner PENSKE AUTOSPORT look to build on a promising start to the season for the DS E-TENSE FE23 At the wheel of the DS Performance-developed single-seaters are reigning Formula E world champion Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Éric Vergne, the only double champion in the category’s history who will celebrate his 100th FE race

For the fifth time since the creation of the all-electric single-seater ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Saudi Arabia will host an E-Prix. This weekend it is a double meeting with two races held over Friday and Saturday in Diriyah.

DS Automobiles enters the second round of Formula E’s ninth season with the aim of building on a positive start to the new campaign at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit in Mexico City. The manufacturer, which secured the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2019 and 2020, banked valuable point in the opening round and is looking to make further progress with its DS E-TENSE FE23.

Keen to deliver a strong result at the wheel of the DS E-TENSE FE23 this weekend will be DS PENSKE drivers, reigning world champion Stoffel Vandoorne and past double champion Jean-Éric Vergne who will celebrate his 1OOth Formula E on Friday.

As ever in the ultra-competitive electric championship, qualifying will play an important role in determining the outcome of the weekend in Saudi Arabia. The Diriyah circuit is typical of most Formula E venues, with successive corners and twisty sections throughout. A strong starting position on the grid will be key. But one thing is sure: the expertise of DS Automobiles, its drivers and the DS PENSKE team, each possesses the necessary tools to achieve this objective.

Eugenio Franzetti, Director of DS Performance:

“The race in Mexico showed us that Season 9 is going to be fought at the very highest level, both in terms of cars and drivers. And it’s extremely positive because motorsport should always bring out the best in competitors. From our side, we know what we need to improve on, and we know how to do it. We head to Saudi Arabia aware of our strengths and our potential.”

Key figures since DS Automobiles entered Formula E:

  • 90 races
  • 4 championship titles
  • 15 victories
  • 44 podiums
  • 21 pole positions
