  • Spectacular challenge on gravel for Laurent Pellier and the Corsa Rally4

Rüsselsheim/Munich. Another major challenge awaits the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team next weekend with the Rally Poland. First held in 1921, the gravel event is one of the continent's most traditional. The fast special stages around the small Masurian town of Mikolajki in the northeast of Germany's neighboring country are among the most demanding in this year's schedule of the European Junior Rally Championship (JERC). In total, the competitors have to master 852.33 kilometers over the two days, 14 of which are special stages (SS) over 188.10 kilometers against the clock.

After their brilliant victory at the JERC opener 2022 in mid-May at the Rally Islas Canarias, driver Laurent Pellier (27) and his co-driver Marine Pelamourgues (24) in the Corsa Rally4 of the four-time JERC overall winning team want to maintain their top position on loose surfaces as well. But the competition is once again extremely strong. No less than 22 Rally4 cars have entered for the RC4 category, 16 of which are also competing in the Junior European Championship for drivers aged 27 and under.

Laurent Pellier is tackling the upcoming challenge with a lot of confidence but the necessary respect: "I'm looking forward to the super-fast gravel stages in Poland and hope that we will also be competitive on loose surfaces. I have no doubt that the Corsa Rally4 will work very well here again. However, I contested my last gravel rally four years ago. I hope the automatisms return quickly and we find a good rhythm in the cockpit right away. Marine and I are preparing meticulously for this difficult rally. Of course we would like to continue where we left off in Gran Canaria, but we know about the extremely high level in the JERC field. A podium finish in Poland would be great for the entire ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team. We'll give it everything!"

The 78th Rally Poland kicks off on Friday (10.06.) from 5 p.m. with the Ceremonial Start in Mikolajki, followed by the first special stage from 7 p.m. with the "Super Special Stage" in the Mikolajki Arena in the heart of the city. The rally really gets going the other morning. Seven special stages are scheduled from 9.15 a.m. onwards. The decision will then be made on Sunday with six more chases against the clock and the final "Power Stage" (SS14) starting at 16:08. Rally fans can follow the exciting action via a live stream using the paid app WRC+ and keep up to date with the current status of the rally at any time via live timing at www.opel-motorsport.com and www.adac-motorsport.de.
